What are the advertising rates?

We currently don't have any fixed ad rates.  In February 2003 we installed an all new classifieds system that is much improved over the old one, and has a much more sophisticated banner ad system built in.  We can now target banners to specific categories or sub-categories, or throughout the whole site.  Banners can be set to run for a certain duration, for a certain number of impressions, or indefinitely.  The system also includes built-in statistics to track both impressions and click-throughs.  We can also run special text advertisements in any of the e-mails sent out by the system.

The majority of the banners on the site are banner exchange deals with other sites to increase traffic, or they are banners to our own sites.  For the right sites, we are willing to work out banner exchange deals, but we really would prefer to get at least a few paying sponsors to help keep this site free.

How can I become a top level sponsor?

In addition to the regular banner ads that appear on each page within the classifieds, we our offering limited major and top level sponsorship options to select companies.  Major sponsors will get a permanent banner ad on our home page, plus up to 4 rotating banner ads within the main system.  We will only allow a maximum of 4 major sponsors on the system at any one time.  The Top Level sponsor will get a large banner at the top of the home page along with a permanent banner or logo at the top of every page in the system.  There will be only one Top Level sponsor at any given time.

What type of traffic does this site get?

This site is actually the fourth generation of the FREE Musicians' Classifieds created by Steve Sherrard at DBAR Productions & MusicTECH.  The first generation was set up by simple Front Page based forms in early 1999.  We have upgraded the software several times, and moved the system to its own domains on a dedicated server in the middle of 2000.  Since then we have gone through two more server upgrades and in February 2003 we switched to an even better classifieds script.

As of March 2005, this site was drawing over 2000 unique visitors each week, with over 100,000 total page requests each month! 

Do a search on any of the major search engines for "free musicians classifieds" or "musicians classifieds", and our site will show up at or near the top of most of the listings. This site is also one of the links in the "Features" section of the navigation menu of one of our other very popular sites, Music-And-Technology.com .

Why should I advertise here?

There are many reasons to advertise on the FREE Musicians' Classifieds site:

• You can help us keep this site free for the musicians who use it!
  MusicTECH is a very small business that doesn't make any significant amount of money from its web ventures.  MusicTECH is primarily Steve Sherrard's own project studio business, and most of the money (which isn't a whole lot) is made from doing regular studio projects.  Steve loves to help out others in the music business in any way possible, and that's why he created the FREE Musicians' Classifieds, as well as the Ask MusicTECH free technical advice forum, and the free online "how to" guides (ok, there's only one how to guide so far, but it's very long and detailed).  Sure, it's also free publicity for Steve and his studio business, but that's not the main reason he created the web site, and almost all of his work still comes from traditional advertising in the Seattle area as well as word of mouth from other studios and clients.

• You will increase sales by reaching a highly targetted and ever growing audience!
  Read the section above to learn a little bit about the steady stream of traffic that the FREE Musicians' Classifieds has received ever since its original incarnation over a year ago.  The primary people who visit this site are young eager musicians looking to start or join their first band, as well as older musicians and seasoned pros looking for a new gig or other work.  In addition, we get many other music industry related businesses who post free ads trying to get the attention of our steady stream of visitors.  While you can certainly post your own free ad, and upload your own small banner or photo for the ad (and we encourage you to go ahead and do both), most of the visitors go straight to the musicians wanted or musicians available categories, and rarely check out the other sections.  We will delete any commercial ads posted in these categories.  A banner ad is really the best way to go since it is much more visible and will not get burried beneath other ads.

• It's cheaper than traditional advertising!
  Let's face it.  Traditional advertising in trade magazines or other media is very expensive, and there are hundreds of other ads competing for the reader's attention.  We are not trying to get rich from the advertising.  We just want to cover our hosting and other costs to keep this site up and running and free for the musicians who use it.  Advertising on the FREE Musicians' Classifieds is a great bargain, and you get to do your part to help out the musical community as well!
